Every year, thousands of Shia worshippers take part in the ceremonies,
performed to mourn the death of Husayn ibn Ali, a grandson of the
Prophet Muhammad. The commemorations take place on Ashura, the tenth day
of the first month of the Islamic calendar. They mark Husayn's death
at the Battle of Karbala, fought between Husayn and Yazid I on October
10 680 AD to determine who should succeed the prophet as the leader of
Islam.
1 KINGS 18:28 28And they cried aloud, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till the blood gushed out upon them.

In the Bible, the prophet Elijah, who unlike Muhammed was an actual prophet of God, did battle with the 450 prophets of Baal, which is to say Satan, and defeated them in a resounding and overwhelming victory. And while Elijah was taunting them before defeating them, the satanic prophets of Baal began cutting themselves, 1 Kings says, “after their manner“, which means this is something that they were known for doing.
