What A Waste!

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that the biggest failure in America is the establishment church. It's a bigger failure than even the federal government. Now that's saying something.

No people in Church history had been given the rich heritage of the churches of America. The Church of America was birthed by the courage and sacrifice of men such as Jonas Clark, John Peter Muhlenberg, James Caldwell, Joab Houghton, et al. These men stood in the gap and rallied the Christians in Colonial America to dispose of a tyrannical British Crown and to help create a land of liberty such as the world had never before seen.

Alas, the courage of the patriot pastors of Colonial America has been forgotten; their sacrifice wasted. Everything they purchased with their dynamic and powerful preaching has been squandered by generations of gutless, ear-tickling men-pleasers in these entertainment playgrounds known as churches. What a waste!

However, as far gone as we are, if even a significant percentage of the 300,000-plus evangelical churches would stand up NOW and begin sounding the clarion call of national repentance and constitutional liberty, the ship of state could yet be turned around. But there is NO SIGN of that happening. NONE!

TARES AMONG THE WHEAT!

 

While Christian unity is a very important biblical principle, we must ask ourselves: “How diverse can Christian unity become before it becomes too diverse? How far should a Bible-believing Christian go in the process of forgiving others? Is it possible to go too far?”

An article in the Focus on Religion section taken from the Orange County Register may provide the answer to this question. The headline stated: “Church to Ask Indians to Forgive.” Then a statement followed: “On November 1, ‘The New Jamestown Covenant’ was signed in Virginia with the American arm of the Church of England.” The Newport Virginia News reported:

In 1606, King James I granted a charter allowing English businessmen to colonize Virginia and spread “Christianity” among the “savages” who “live in darkness and miserable ignorance.” More than three centuries later, the Episcopal Church -- an American outgrowth of the Church of England -- will ask American Indians for forgiveness and reconciliation at a noontime ceremony today on Jamestown Island.[1]

Although the Bible teaches reconciliation, the New Jamestown Covenant took reconciliation beyond biblical parameters. Statements included in the five-page document claimed that Episcopalians and Indians would “work together to find new resolutions in social and political challenges and “... start together to protect and nurture our home, the Earth.” [2]

Now we know the Bible emphatically teaches that unity centered on a common bond in Jesus Christ is very important. “Bind us together Lord,” should be a prayer that is always on the hearts of believers. God’s love should shine through us. As John wrote: “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” [3]

However, if we compromise the gospel and promote a “social gospel” or the “gospel of Mother Earth,” and people are not told about the true gospel, people will be deceived and end up going to hell! Is this really love?

It seems to me that Christian unity must always remain centered on the truth. Especially when the Bible teaches that in the last days, many will be deceived in the name of Christ. If those whom we are joining together with have not accepted the Jesus of the Bible and the true gospel according to the Scriptures, they will not spend eternity with Jesus Christ.  

Let’s keep one thing clear. Christian unity cannot be accomplished at any cost. Biblical Christianity must always be centered at the foot of the cross.

I was born and raised in a Christian home. I accepted Christ as my Savior at the age of five. I surrendered to the Gospel ministry at the age of eighteen. I attended or have diplomas and degrees from four Bible colleges. I started pastoring when I was twenty-three years of age. And I just observed my fortieth year of continuous pastoral ministry. As Paul said to his son in the faith, Timothy, so I can say, “And that from a child [I have] known the holy scriptures.” (II Tim. 3:15)
Obviously, I am no stranger to the work of God. I have been in church all of my life. Though my dad was not a full-time minister (even though he was ordained), his best friends were pastors. As a result, I have been around pastors and Christian workers all of my life. So, I am not speaking as an outsider. I know church work from the inside out. I’ve seen it; I’ve been taught it; and I’ve experienced it. The good, the bad, and the ugly: I’ve seen it all.
We pastors and Christians are never going to agree on every nuance of scriptural interpretation or method of ministry. But the vast majority of us will agree that Christ alone is our Sovereign and the Bible is the rule for our faith and practice.

Dear friends

It seems like just the other day when the world was normal.

Oh, it was still a sinful world.  All men are born spiritually dead in sins.  But the world, or at least the western, once-Protestant world, was not abnormal, in the sense of glorifying what is unnatural.  Those behaviours and lifestyles which the Bible calls “vile affections”, “against nature”, etc. (Rom. 1:24-27), although always present in society, were loathed, never encouraged, never celebrated, and certainly never legalised. 

But we are now living in a world that seems to have sprung to life from a horrible nightmare.  A world where the lunatics have taken over the asylum, and are in the process of locking up the sane people, punishing them for opposing the lunatics’ lifestyles.  A world where, “as it was in the days of Noah” (Lk. 17:26), the wickedness of man is great in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart is only evil continually (Gen. 6:5).  Abnormal is the new normal, and normal people are the new criminals.  Degraded immorality is the new morality.  This has been the deliberate tactic used, and it still is: to declare that they are the normal ones, and the rest of society is abnormal; that decent people are the indecent ones; that moral people are immoral; and that Christians are really unloving, hateful, intolerant bigots, who have to change – or face the consequences.  The asylum’s doors are slamming shut and being locked – but the ones on the inside are now the normal folk; and especially Christians.  Christians are branded as the vilest, most intolerant, most hate-filled, bigoted people on the face of the earth.
