Ireland declares, for that which Destroyed Sodom.
The answer is because there were homosexuals (what the Bible terms "Sodomites" after the city of Sodom which God destroyed because of it's woeful wickedness) on the NIV translating committee. One such sodomite was Virginia Mollenkott. Another sodomite was the Chairman of the NIV Old Testament Committee! The name of the sodomite? Dr. Marten H. Woudstra (he's dead now).Is it any wonder why the word "sodomite" is not in the NIV? It doesn't require too much thinking. Look below and see what they replaced the word "sodomite" with:
The King James Version:THE AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION
KJV: Deuteronomy 23:17- There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.
The NIV has replaced the word "Sodomite" with "Shrine Prostitute." or "Male shrine prostitute."
Here again and in other related Scriptures, the NIV has "Male shrine prostitutes."1 Kings 14:24- And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.
The Word of God teaches that prior to the return of Jesus Christ to this earth, there will be a re-appearance, and a convergence of the characteristics of two periods of great wickedness, mentioned in the Old Testament times. History will repeat itself. It has a strange habit of doing so!
The days of Noah, and the days of Lot, will re-appear and converge at the end of this age.
** This
is the teaching of Jesus Christ in Luke 17:26-30
"And as it was in the days of Noe (Noah) so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man (the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ) They did eat, they drank, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise also, as it was in the days of Lot, they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But they same day that Lot went out of Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
The abuse of marriage was a feature of the days of Noah. The unseemly, unnatural sin of lusting after those of the same sex [cf. Romans 1:23-32] was the feature of Lot's day, and has taken on the infamous name of 'Sodomy'. The Saviour says that these two sinful characteristics will reappear and converge prior to His second coming, cf. v30: Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. The Saviour is surely highlighting the point that the prevalent sins of the days of Noah and of the days of Lot will reappear and converge. How up to date therefore is the Word of God. It is ahead of its time. We presently live in an age when these sins are re-emerging and converging. Another feature of the days of Noah and Lot was the unbelief and indifference to the future. Those who lived in these times, mentioned by Jesus Christ, were unprepared for the coming judgment. It is these truths among others that the Saviour is holding up in Luke 17:26-30 as a warning. It is interesting to note that these recorded events of Old Testament history, though they be denied and/or explained away nowadays by man, are referred to here as facts. The rise of sodomy and the growing acceptance today of sodomite marriage is never a reason to throw off belief in the Word of God. Rather these developments give greater cause than ever to hold fast, to what we believe, for the Bible is being proved true before our very eyes. As the Saviour reminded us in Matthew 5:17,18: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
